General Information on United States of America

USA

The United States of America, otherwise known as the USA, has truly built itself up to become one of the world’s leading superpowers. America is by far the most ethnically diverse, multicultural nation in the world, as a result of extremely high levels of immigration which can still be seen today. This has led to major international organisations setting up in the infamous “Land of Opportunity”, where dreams can and have come true.

The United States consists of 50 separate states, with a population today of over 312 million people living there. Canada borderlines “The States”, as it’s also known as, to the direct north and Mexico is situated to the south.

The United States is the largest importer of goods and third largest exporter, though exports per capita are relatively low. Canada, China, Mexico, Japan, and Germany are its top trading partners. In 2010, oil was the largest import commodity, while transportation equipment was the country's largest export.

The economy itself is the world’s largest national economy. Today, the United States is home to 29.6 million small businesses, 30% of the world's millionaires, 40% of the world's billionaires, along with 139 of the world's 500 largest companies. From its emergence as an independent nation, the United States has encouraged science and innovation.

I recommend using hotpads.com, Craiglist, and apartmentfinder (for reviews). Hotpad definitely comes in handy when you are looking for very specific areas to move to. I've only recently learned about Rent-o-meter http://www.rentometer.com/) which shows the prices of places on a map and scores them based on price and amenities.
