Pobal - Software Development Manager
As head of the software development unit at Pobal, I am responsible for all aspects relating to the delivery of business systems to support the work of internal clients and to integrate with external partners.
This includes project managing multiple projects, coaching the team and acting as the ScrumMaster, ensuring that the training and development needs of team members are met, in addition to being a developer on the project team.
To-date we have delivered six significant apps (20+ releases in total) over a three year period.
Our most significant project was the delivery of Pobal's first cross-company system - Core Applicant Data (CAD), a central database of customer data. I managed the CAD project from inception, through analysis and requirements gathering, to delivery of first release which included the cleansing of customer data provided by all departments and migration into the system. We have since delivered a further five release with new functionality including integration with Pobal's corporate finance system.
Another provides an end-to-end application and approval process which accepts submissions from Local Authority staff, supports the review process by Pobal staff and allows staff from the funding Government Dept. to query or approve funding requests.
Our most recent new release, CC-Fin, delivered a solution which allowed Pobal's corporate finance team to take over the significant task of processing grant payments for the Childcare Programmes' department and integrated the existing Childcare Application with the new Corporate Finance System to provide a seamless interface through which Childcare team members could view a beneficiary's information.
We are currently working on the roll-out of a complex project to deliver a Performance Monitoring System for the Rural Transport Programme (RTP) which includes a Single Sign On implementation and integration with the company’s GIS solution.

I was also centrally involved in the development of an Internet Strategy for a large private sector client as part of a successful engagement by the Business Consulting practice.
