Tamar Ackerman's Art Therapy Intern role at The Ittleson Center (2010 - 2011)
She previously worked as a children’s art instructor in New York City, and as a member of the art staff at Camp Moshava in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. More recently, as a staff person at the Rebecca School, Tamar Ackerman worked with young people between the ages of 5 and 19 diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders.
In addition, Tamar Ackerman is a member of Psi Chi, the national psychology honor society. Ackerman completed an undergraduate degree at New York University in 2008, where she graduated magna cum laude with majors in psychology and Jewish history. A dedicated volunteer, Ackerman has served institutions that include the Keren Or Institute of Jerusalem, Israel, as well as Beth Israel Hospital’s SOVRI Helpline, Lenox Hill Hospital, and the State Psychiatric Institute at Columbia University Medical Center.
