After completing a two year course in parenting from the Resources for Infant Educators (R.I.E) she founded the Herbalife Family Foundation. Hughes also served 7 years as a Community Circle leader for children in the Beverly Hills School District teaching self-esteem and how to negotiate feelings in a non-violent way. She served on the Board of the Maple Counseling Center, Honorary Board Member of Century City 4 Kids and the Sheeba Medical Center. She is Chairperson of the Star Gem Foundation which has allowed her to personally teach health safety to over 20,000 children in the Los Angeles School District. Suzan devotes time to the D.A.R.E. program and was honored by receiving their Future of America Award.
