My client is seeking a C/C++ Software Developer to join their European research hub and Development Centre in Cork. They will be is a self-starter who works well in an international teaming environment, is extremely well-organized and has excellent interpersonal and communication skills. They will work within a research group in developing and delivering technologies for next-generation commercial energy and security systems.The candidate will have a strong algorithmic background, experience with middleware development, scientific programming, GUI development and hardware interface programming.  Education At minimum this role requires a bachelors in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering with 5 years experience or Master in the same field with 3 years of relevant experience is required.Experience • Highly proficient in programming using the following programming languages: o Essential: C and/or C++ o Expert in at least one of: C# or Javao Preferable: Visual Basic, Python• Proficiency with Matlab and scientific programming• Proficiency in efficient data structure and algorithm construction• Proficiency with multiple development environments: Eclipse, Visual Studio, etc.• GNU tool chain experience (e.g. gcc compiling, makefiles, parsing, linking etc.)• Code/interface integration between multiple systems/environments• Middleware, SOA, Web Services (SOAP and REST)• Hardware interface programming is highly regarded• RDBMS (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL)• Exceptional communication skills, demonstrated commitment to deliver results, adaptability and the ability to work in a team environment• Ability to execute technology research plans to successfully achieve desired technical outcomes within time and budget constraintsIt would be highly beneficial to have experience in:• User Experience Design including Visual Design, Information Architecture, Interaction Design• GUI desktop application development (using e.g. Swing, SWT, MFC, WinForms, WPF)• Web application development using technologies such as DHTML (HTML, JavaScript, CSS), Flash, AIR, SilverlightFor more information on this role please email Sarah Walsh at or connect with me on LinkedIn -
