Dr. David Haybron holds a Doctor of Medicine from The Ohio State University (OSU) College of Medicine, having previously completed both a Master's and a Bachelor's in Biochemistry. Following receipt of his medical degree, Dr. David Haybron completed his surgical internship and general surgery residency at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he served as Chief Resident in his final year. He then returned to OSU, where he completed a thoracic surgery residency.

In the course of his graduate and postgraduate studies, Dr. David Haybron held a variety of research and teaching appointments. During a research fellowship at the University of California, he participated in a study of nitric oxide metabolism that would later contribute to the 2000 Nobel Prize in Medicine. He also served as a Graduate Research Assistant at Case Western Reserve University's Lakeside Veterans Administration Hospital and held a graduate teaching assistant position in the OSU College of Medicine's Department of Anatomy.

Since completing his postgraduate training, Dr. David Haybron has practiced at Missouri Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons, West Penn Allegheny Health System, and The Cleveland Clinic Foundation. A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Chest Physicians, he also belongs to a number of other medical and surgical associations. A double board-certified surgeon, he has held license to practice medicine since 1988.
