Nuria Fernandez has served as a senior executive for a diverse spectrum of public agencies and private firms. She served as a Special Assistant in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for the United States Department of Transportation in Washington, D.C., where she supported budget and programs for transportation planning and construction. Nuria Fernandez coordinated transportation research and funding for agency-wide projects.

In 1994, Nuria Fernandez joined the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority to lead the expansion of the 103-mile heavy rail system. As Executive Manager, she managed and completed its construction five years ahead of schedule and trimmed the allotted budget by $200 million. In 2006, Nuria Fernandez returned to the City of Chicago to serve as Commissioner for the Department of Aviation.

Today, Nuria Fernandez serves as Senior Vice President of the Fortune 500, CH2M Hill, Inc., a program delivery company of large-scale engineering and construction projects.
