Currently working for a start up company in the aviation industry. It offers maintenance services for the aviation sector including overhaul and repair of APUs, Landing Gears and both wide and narrow body hangar maintenance for Airbus and Boeing aircraft.

Its a standalone position encompassing setting up the HR department and responsibility for recruitment, drafting company policies, absence monitoring and payroll.

New Zealand Racing Board - HR Advisor

The New Zealand Racing board (NZRB) is the governing sports body for racing and sports betting in New Zealand. It employs approx. 1000 employees. It operates more than 650 betting outlets, three call centres, and national radio & television channels. As a HR Advisor, my main responsibilities were:
• To support the Performance and Remuneration Reviews for the organisation.
• Co-ordinate the closure of two betting offices in the Christchurch area in conjunction with the area manager. This involved a review of each of the individual’s entitlements (redundancy is not statutory in New Zealand) and preparing all the information for payroll and the correspondence to the individuals.
• Creating a monthly newsletter for the managers of the retail area to educate them with HR information.
• Project Managing the distribution, collection and follow-up of Betting Compliance Certificates for all NZRB employees and contractors around New Zealand.

The Datamail Group employs approx 1,400 employees and provides both paper and electronic based bulk communications. It also provides business outsourcing for invoicing, accounts payable, applications and forms processing and corporate services. As a HR Advisor, I
• Created and updated job descriptions and job titles to align recently acquired companies to the Datamail group competency framework.
• Was responsible for the recruitment and selection process for sales and operational roles through placement of advertisements, interviewing of candidates and drafting of employment contracts.
• Provided performance management coaching to managers on employee relations issues they were experiencing.

Teva Ireland - HR Generalist

Teva Pharmaceuticals Ireland is part of Teva Pharmaceuticals Industries Ltd. Employing over 26,000 employees worldwide (approx. 800 in Ireland) it is one of the top 20 pharmaceutical companies and among the largest generic pharmaceutical companies in the world. I was initially employed as a HR generalist (July 06-Apr 07) responsible for 346 employees and subsequently moved to the position of Recruitment officer (Apr 07- Oct 07). My main responsibilities were:
• Managing Employee Relations/Industrial Relations issues for my areas.
• Coordinating the Performance Review/Planning processes and coached managers.
• Managing the Recruitment and Selection for my areas and implemented a recruitment drive for lab analysts.
• Implementing the salary review process, conducting a benchmarking exercise and implementing a new salary grade for Process Technologists.
• Implementing a redundancy programme for general operatives.
• Conducting the monthly HR Health and Safety audit in conjunction with the HR Director.
• Delivering part of induction training to new hires, standing in for the T&D Manager when she was unavailable and delivering Code of Conduct training to key influencers in the organisation within a limited timeframe.

Arachas - HR Manager

Arachas is an Independent Insurance Brokerage with offices in Wexford and Kilkenny employing approx. 100 people selling personal insurance, commercial insurance and dealing with claims. As HR manager, I:

• Successfully defended the company in two wage dispute cases before a Rights Commissioner hearing.
• Designed and created an employee handbook for the group.
• Managed the company sick pay scheme clawing back previously unclaimed social welfare cheques from staff.
• Managed the payroll for three companies and project managed the change over from weekly pay to monthly pay for the three companies in the group.
• Was responsible for the recruitment and selection of staff in the three companies and managed all grievances and disciplinary issues.
• Managed the Compensation & Benefits for the companies e.g. Annual Salary Reviews, group health insurance scheme and Executive and Staff Pension schemes.
• I arranged training for staff through the Irish Brokers Association (IBA) and Irish Insurance Institute for staff.
• I was the point of contact for all health and safety issues and organised the production of the Group Health & Safety statement.

Group 4 Securicor - HR Generalist

Securicor Ireland Ltd (now Group 4 Securicor group) is the world’s second largest security provider. It operates in more than 100 countries and employed approximately 900 (unionised & non unionised) staff in Ireland during my tenure. As a Senior HR Assistant, I:

• Managed Employee Relations/Industrial Relations issues for the security guarding area and successfully defended company in unfair dismissal case before a Rights Commissioners relating to incapacity to work.
• I implemented a redundancy programme for 10 employees in 2002-2003.
• Managed recruitment of all aspects of high volume internal and external recruitment for operational and administrative staff.
• Was responsible for monitoring trends in absenteeism and generating reports for HR Manager; managing the company’s sick pay scheme and arranging return to work medicals with the company doctor.
• Managed all HR Administration including wage queries, VHI, holiday’s, maternity leave, Force Majeure leave and work related accidents and non-national staff that stayed on after the Euro Project.
