Juliet Sorensen: Becoming a Peace Corps Volunteer
Following graduation from Princeton University with an A.B. in Near Eastern Studies, Juliet Sorensen spent two years as a maternal and child health volunteer in rural Morocco for the Peace Corps. The organization maintains a 50-year tradition of providing highly qualified volunteers and offering overseas assistance in more than 75 countries. The Peace Corps’ six primary areas of programming include agriculture, environment, education, health, youth and community development, and business technologies.
Prospective employers value the leadership, commitment, and service volunteering implies, and many consider Peace Corps service when making hiring decisions. Volunteering for the Peace Corps, however, is a highly competitive process.
