Former police officer Jon Schorsch suddenly lost his sight in a traumatic boating accident that left him permanently blind. Drawing strength from his loss of both his vision and his beloved 14-year-long career in law enforcement, Jon Schorsch began a new career as an advocate for others who have lost their eyesight. Utilizing his considerable body of professional experience as both a police officer and sergeant, Jon Schorsch now serves as a Self-Defense Instructor for the National Federation of the Blind and a member of the Board of Directors for Community Services for the Blind and Partially Sighted. He has also stepped forward to act as a designated speaker and representative for SafeCallNow.org, a non-profit organization that assists law enforcement and public safety professionals who suffer job-related stress.
