DeFoe Corp. President and CEO John Amicucci has overseen hundreds of millions of dollars in heavy-construction projects since assuming leadership of the company in 1992. He joined DeFoe in 1973, operating a long-boom crane and heavy equipment before transitioning into management. When not directing construction projects on bridges, highways, railroads, airports, and other metropolitan New York and tri-state infrastructure, John Amicucci plays golf, maintaining memberships in two top clubs, Hudson National Golf Club in New York and The Loxahatchee Club in Florida. For 15 years, he belonged to New York’s Leewood Golf Club.

At Hudson National Golf Club, located about 45 minutes from Manhattan, John Amicucci plays on a Tom Fazio course listed in Golf Digest’s list of the 100 best golf courses in America for 2011-2012. At the private Loxahatchee Club, John Amicucci generously supports the scholarship fund. He is also Finance Chairman of La Paz Golf Committee, which orchestrates an annual fundraiser to benefit Peruvian youth born with deformities.

In other charitable endeavors, John Amicucci participates in walks to raise money for advancing the research on autism, breast cancer, and other diseases and assisted in rebuilding the Church of St. Pius X, his parish church in Scarsdale, New York. He also belongs to the Columbus Citizens Foundation, a New York-based nonprofit with approximately 600 members, which supports the Italian-American community with cultural events, scholarships, and grants. Mr. Amicucci holds a B.A. in Organizational Management from Nyack College, an A.A.S. in Criminal Justice from Westchester Community College, and a Class A Long-Boom Operator’s license from the International Union of Operating Engineers School.

The DeFoe organization began operation in 1946 as a small specialty contractor with a vision of excellence and an eye on the future. With the explosive growth of highway construction and the birth of the Interstate System in the 1950’s DeFoe Corp. emerged as a heavy civil contractor, specializing in highways, bridges, utilities, deep foundations, transportation and transit projects that helped pioneer the art and application of architectural concrete.
