Test Manager

Reports to: E-Commerce Development Manager
Department: Technology

Overall Purpose of Job:

This is a Senior Level position and the successful candidate will need to be dynamic, focused and driven to make a difference to the test team. Paddy Power is a fast paced progressive company and we are looking for someone who enjoys the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the ongoing development of the test team and wider technology group. The ideal candidate should be able to work with limited supervision and provide leadership to a growing team of approx 15 testers.

Main duties & responsibilities:

Ensure that Paddy power development projects are delivered to the highest quality standards
Ensure that timely and accurate estimates are provided for all projects
Implement key KPI metrics to drive continuous improvement
Provide timely and accurate status report for current and pipeline projects
Proactively identify and communicate risks and issues with proposed resolutions and contingency plans
Proactively coordinate and communicate with other departments in Paddy Power and third party vendors to plan and schedule for software releases
Work to aggressive deadlines in a dynamic environment
Lead the ongoing success of the Test Team by identifying and suggesting opportunities for improvement via tools, automation and process refinement
Line Management for the test team - setting of goals and objectives, carrying out performance reviews, determining career paths and ensuring the test team have the correct skills and tools to provide a best in class test service within Paddy Power
Mentoring and coaching other members of the software testing team based on industry best practices
Introduce best practice test methodologies to improve quality and reduce effort
Effective scheduling of resources to maximize throughput and make best use of capacity
Essential Competencies:

7 years test experience with a proven track record leading and managing test teams in a challenging environment
Familiarity with software industry standards and software testing qualifications such as ISEB/ISTQB
In depth experience with UNIX systems and RDBMS
Experience using & implementing Bug tracking tools such as Jira, Bugzilla, Test director, Quality Centre, QTP, Selenium etc
Experienced at capturing, interpreting and reporting key metrics/KPI’s to drive performance improvement
Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment to target release dates
Proactive and structured approach to application testing
Excellent problem solving abilities
Ability to work in a team environment and lead the overall test effort
Ability to work at own initiative, take responsibility for delivery and create a value add test team
Excellent organisational and documentation skills
Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills with experience of working with virtual, distributed teams
Experience:

7 years test experience with a proven track record leading and managing test teams in a challenging environment
Knowledge of sport and betting is a distinct advantage
Experience of implementation and use of web based test automation and Bug tracking tools
Experience and or understanding of some of the following would be an advantage also:

HTML/PHP/Java script, TCL, C/C++ or other 4GL
CMMi, Prince II, Agile, Continuous Integration, Test driven development , Test Automation
