Job Description:
The Software Engineer will report to the Head of Product Development on the testing of custom software solutions designed to meet strict customer requirements.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for customer acceptance testing of software packages and project deliveries.
He/she will have the ability to:
Ensure error correction and resolution through the use of appropriate test procedures, communication and use of root-cause analysis;
Understand and analyse business requirements for testability and completeness;
Test and create test data/files in a batch processing environment;
Thoroughly document defects found in Quality Centre, and work with developers to resolve them;
Manage relational database management systems (RDBMS) systems and their Operating System environments (SUN Solaris and Linux);
Serve as the primary user contact regarding client needs, current system capabilities, limitations and uses, identification of current problems and additional requirements.
He/she will also support the introduction of standard quality assurance best practice to the company and its products, and will interface and share design knowledge with test and support groups working within the organization, and in overseas locations.
Experience:
The candidate will be self motivated and able to work independently, he/she will possess:
A good degree in Computer Science – Third level degree (or higher);
At least three years of business and programming experience using client-server environment and RDBMS systems;
Strong background of various testing (Unit, System, Integration, Regression, UAT, Parallel);
Experience in writing detailed test plans and test cases/scenarios based on functional and technical specifications;
Automation experience using shell-scripts, Perl, etc.;
Knowledge of Perl and SQL;
Ideally, knowledge of debugging C programs (nice to have);
Experience of Unix system, system administration;
Experience of HTTP, PHP, XML, ASN.1;
Willingness to travel overseas if required.
Fluency in English is a must, and any other language(s) would be an advantage.
