Senior Developer


Overall purpose of Job:

To develop and maintain business critical Retail and Non Retail systems.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Development, maintenance and support of JBoss applications (SEAM & J2EE)
Work closely with internal teams to solve business challenges
Work to tight deadlines

Excellent problem solving capabilities
Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Flexibility and adaptable in their approach to customer and business needs
Ability to review and customer and designer inputs
Work on own initiative
Strong desire to learn new technologies and keep up to date with new product developments

Education and Experience:

Relevant third level qualification
Professional with 5 plus years working in software development experience of which 3 plus years were spent in commercial Java development

Experience in some or all of the following required:

Java development – SEAM, Hibernate, JSF, EJB3, AJAX, JSP, Struts, JDBC
JBOSS, CVS, Subversion, JUnit, Eclipse
Strong database knowledge: Informix, Oracle, SQL Server etc.

Experience in any of the following would be an advantage:

Front end web development technologies: CSS and JavaScript an advantage
Methodologies: Agile Development(SCRUM, XP), UML
Operating Systems: Unix or Unix variants
