My Longford based client has a vacancy for an R&D Engineer:
KEY DUTIES
As part of a focused R&D team, the primary responsibility is to engineer a product from conception through to qualification and launch. A systematic approach, using the tooling available from Six Sigma is utilized within the group. The job will involve co-operation with manufacturing department, industrial engineering, product management, vendors, and the customer base, on a global basis.
Responsibilities will include the generations of drawings and BOM’s, design calculations, and the review of customer specifications. The role will also extend to reviewing vendors product offering, to access their suitability for inclusion within the company’s Products. Full qualification plans will need to be drafted, and assessment of deviations from requirements will need to be dispositioned. The overall role is very rounded and exciting with exposure to pricings, sales targets, budgets and marketing also included.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
• A 2.1 Honours Degree / PhD/Masters in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 2 years appropriate work experience or a post grad qualification is essential.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is required.
• 3D modelling experience is preferable.
• Knowledge of machining processes is desirable.
• Project management skills and attention to detail are important skills for the position.
• A good working knowledge of production control systems and machining processes is desirable.
• Computer literate: Microsoft Office, SAP knowledge is a plus.
• Ability to communicate at all levels within the business.

JOB SUMMARY:
This position reports to the R&D Manager who in turn reports to the Director of Engineering.
This person will work within a team of Engineers and Designers gaining extensive experience in all aspects of the design of high pressure, flow controlling, and actuated devices. This challenging and exciting role allows one to apply the Mechanical Engineering principles.
