Description:
The primary purpose of this job is to support manufacturing through the continuous development of manufacturing processes and support day to day operations to achieve BU targets.
The position is part of a team within the Engineering department that contribute to the overall business metrics. This position will include liaison with outside suppliers and other Depuy Design & Manufacturing sites to ensure all goals and targets of the manufacturing process are achieved
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Support the day to day manufacturing operation environment to allow operations to meet its targets
2. Provide CNC applications support and fixture design as required
3. Support business key metrics with ongoing process improvements and introduction of new technology.
4. Focus on reduction of unit cost of production, through accountability for specific cells i.e. Consumable Cost, Scrap Cost and Cell Efficiency.
5. Liaison with outside suppliers on the selection and purchase of improved consumables, specialised tooling, fixturing, gauges and special equipment that will reduce spend in the BU.
6. Design & develop tools, fixtures, gages and special equipment for manufacturing operations and new product / process introductions in conjunction with Toolroom Technicians and Manufacturing Engineers.
7. Identify capital spend and budget requirements for process improvements.
8. Provide tooling & fixturing advice and support.
9. Preparation and maintenance of all relevant manufacturing specifications.
10. Preparation and project management of all line extensions/NPI including supporting documentation as reqd.
11. Support ongoing Safety Incident corrective actions and ERGO team initiatives/actions
TECHNICAL SKILLS
ESSENTIAL:
1. CNC Programming experience and/or recognized mechanical engineering technical qualification
2. Minimum 5 years experience in all aspects of CNC program generation and support.
3. Proven ability to work with a project based team to deliver set targets on time and within budget.
4. Experience of the design for manufacture of fixtures and tooling
5. Knowledge of manufacturing processes within a GMP environment.
6. Proven 3D CAD/CAM experience within a regulated industry
DESIRABLE:
1. Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
2. 3D CAD/CAM experience within a regulated industry
