Junior Transportation Specialist

Definition of the Role:



The successful candidate will be part of the Inbound Transportation Group responsible for International Air and Ocean Freight. This specific role will be responsible for the overall management of ocean freight, co-ordination of Loss/Damage shipments, be responsible for all international export shipments as well as other aspects within the team.







Overview:



The person will need to be familiar with excel spreadsheets at an intermediate level and have an understanding of basic Supply Chain fundamentals. Clear and concise communication at various levels both within and out with the Organisation is required.







Job Requirements:

Ocean Freight:



1) Single DRI for all ocean inbound matters; track and trace, reporting, monitoring with 3 ocean freight carriers.



2) Support/actively participate in new 'Global Track and Trace' project to support ocean track and trace. Actively participate in Project meetings.





Loss/Damage Shipments - Activities:



1)Sole responsibility to monitor and co ordinate all reported loss/damage issues with all Distribution Centre's (DC's) and all Freight Forwarders.



2) Work with the DC's to ensure appropriate escalation of loss/damage issues. Work with the carrier base to follow through on investigations/root cause of the issues.



3) Create trend reporting per DC/per carrier.





International Freight - Export:



1) Co-ordinate all requests for international export shipments from our DC's to OEM's in China.





Merge In Transit - Inbound



1) Daily monitoring and reporting of Inbound MIT (Merge In Transit) shipments to DC's. Work closed loop process to ensure carriers meet SLA.





Ad-hoc



1) Ability to support ad hoc departmental work as required to support business needs.



2) Review current practices and assess opportunities for change.





Skills & Competencies Required:



-Good, clear communication skills required, both written and verbal.

-Intermediate level excel skills required.

-Ability to work in a changing /diverse environment, where both activities and deadlines can change at short notice.

-Comfortable at working with all levels of the organisation and able to participate in cross functional teams/departments.

-Able to work in a team and support/manage requirements from multiple sources.

-Strong administrative skills

-Understands the importance of meeting deadlines.

-Considers alternative options/solutions to problem solving, either self initiated or proposed by others.





Qualifications & Experience Required:



-Preferable, the candidate should have some prior experience in logistics/transportation.

-Previous experience in dealing with external suppliers.
