Our client, a leading multinational, is currently recruiting a Consumer Credit Solicitor to join their team in Leitrim. This position is responsible for providing advice on all aspects of regulation concerning consumer credit card and loan products together with related products for both UK and Ireland. The scope of the role is broad and will include active involvement in all aspects of the card and loan relationship with the customer.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To provide and manage:
Advice to the business on the implementation of and adherence to local laws and regulatory codes. Providing regulatory advice and opinions in connection with regulatory consultations from bodies such as the OFT, BERR both directly and through industry forums such as the FLA, BBA.
Advising upon existing regulated and non regulated card and loan products and advising on new product initiatives
Advise around different delivery channels such as Direct Mail and Internet
Advising on advertising law and ensuring compliance of all advertising materials of Card Services
Advising on changes to terms and conditions of Card Services financial products and business processes around such products
Taking an active role in risk management and loss prevention through direct advice and participation at risk committees both UK and Ireland
Providing portfolio conversion advice following any acquisition by Europe Card Services of credit card portfolios
Undertaking CCA compliance reports for the purpose of securitisation reports and providing CCA advice to the business.
To provide advice and support to Business Partners up to and including Director Level
Participation on legal committees of industry forums; where appropriate
QUALIFICATIONS
In depth knowledge and technical expertise of Consumer credit and consumer protection laws and codes of practice, Data Protection Laws; and all consumer finance law as it relates to credit cards and insurance
In depth understanding of the current regulatory environment and issues affecting consumer credit and insurance products
Experience in providing legal advice in relation to Credit Cards and Insurance products
Excellent Communication Skills and ability to provide commercial and pragmatic advice and be viewed as an effective and trusted risk partner to the business
Ability to juggle heavy workload and provide timely advice
Management experience
Preferred: Financial Services experience
The ideal candidate will have 8 years Post Qualification Experience, Strong Consumer Credit Act Knowledge and Retail Consumer Experience.
