Position Summary:
The primary aspect of the role is to provide technical leadership in the area of chemistry and laboratory practices. These skills will be applied in the knowledge of formulation of dye or pigment based inks and the challenges of materials interaction between inks and several other material sets including polymers, metals and silicon based components.
The role involves developing ink for Thermal Inkjet technologies within the PHO technology development organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure that appropriate attention is given to health and safety at work and that corrective action are implemented when necessary.
Provide technical leadership in chemistry and chemical analysis areas.
Formulate and characterize dye and pigment inks.
Understand and root cause materials compatibility and interactions between these inks and other materials including polymers, metals and silicon based components.
Practical knowledge of formulation practices
Practical knowledge of chemical analytical techniques such as FTIR & Chromatography
Mentor technicians within the Ink Development Group.
Analyse ink, components and product materials to determine actual or potential causes of failure to promote reliability.
Design and conduct experiments that determine root causes of failures.
Interpret complex data and correlate results between experimental findings.
Provide support to new product and process introductions or technology developments by:
Consulting on material properties and limitations
Defining appropriate qualification and test plans
Developing new techniques and capabilities
Contribute to breakthrough, technology and other site-wide initiatives.
Candidate Profile:
Minimum Requirements
Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Material Science or related disciplines
Demonstrated communication and leadership skills
Demonstrated problem solving and data analysis skills
Laboratory experience and knowledge of good laboratory practice
Desirable Requirements
Postgraduate Degree in Chemistry, Material Science or related disciplinesRelevant Work Experience
