My name is Iveta Kaniki and I am certificated veterinarian doctor. Economic situation in Latvia and in family brought me in Ireland in Sligo where I living 7 years. I worked as housekeeper in Asylum Seeker accommodation centre, under Bridgestock Ltd. The centre customers are people from very different countries with different education background and culture. Working there, I prove myself I have abilities to understand general Human Rights, abilities to understand that these people are service users, me is the person who work for them and there in job place you cannot used judgement or expressed your negative feelings. I got good practice in communication skills. By recession in the country the situation, become tough also in company where I worked. We face with reducing our working hours, but the job duties, responsibility remain the same. In this situation, time after time, I should take decisions and planning how to do my job on my own. I am hard working person and in the end of the day I want finish my job with feelings I did all my duties and I did all my best. I got experience to make rota for housekeeper staff. I do managing my time well and asking from peoples around me respect the time. I did get experience to understand necessary of record keepings. I do understand Health and safety importance in job place. I attended all training courses, offered by employer. On 01/02/2012, I got redundancy and stopped my employment in Bridgestock

Through my course, I did my 40 hours’ work experience in Cheshire house Chapel Hill, Sligo.
Cheshire Ireland in partnership with HSE provides a range of supported accommodation services to people with physical disabilities. The staffs are committed to providing quality, person- centred services which support people to live a life of their own choosing
In Cheshire house my duties was to help six clients to do everyday tasks. The clients were fully depending from help of the staff members. They needed assistance for dress, hygienic procedures use the bathroom, shower, needs to be give assistance for feeding. Some of clients were with very specific and serious health conditions. The staffs are trained to give the medications and to use the specific medical equipment for the everyday routine. All medication use was under nurse control and is strongly recorded in the record book.
