Profile Activity

I have always had an interest in English, having studied the subject at an undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Now, having almost completed a Radio and Journalism course and my fifth year of third level education, I feel that I am more than ready to showcase my skills and creativity in the workplace.
I am only recently gaining journalistic experience as I am an editor at our online newspaper - the GTI Gazette. The paper is proving popular around Galway, with the site receiving 16,000 hits on one day alone. I plan to continue as Editor until I finish the course as I enjoy the job immensely!
Aside from that, I have worked part-time in a local nursing home for the past five years, and also like the job a lot.

Overall, I am a motivated graduate who is a fast-paced worker and eager to share my education and life skills in the workplace. I like to try and find different methods of doing my work if it means that it can be done more efficiently, so I am capable of working on my own initiative.
At the same time, teamwork is essential in managing the workload – something I have learned a lot about from my current job looking after the elderly. This has taught me to be open-minded, reliable and to respect confidentiality. These are skills that would fit well within any job in terms of language and communication – something which connects us all to each other. French and Irish are my second and third languages, respectively, so I am linguistically versatile.
I am a great listener and possess good telephone techniques skills. I am extremely articulate because of my extensive education in English. This background of education, particularly in the English language, means I can offer excellent communications and advice skills if any problem were to arise in the workplace. Research skills are another important quality that I can bring to a workplace, having had to research extensively throughout my education, most notably for my MA thesis.
