A noted professor and psychiatrist, Dr. Donald Pirodsky prepared for his career at the Virginia Military Institute. He subsequently earned a Bachelor's degree from New York's Hofstra University in 1966. Dr. Pirodsky later earned his Medical degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) Health Science Center at Syracuse (now SUNY Upstate Medical University). As part of his military service, Dr. Donald Pirodsky served at Saint Elizabeth's Hospital in Washington, D.C., as a surgeon from 1971 to 1973, representing the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. Subsequently, Dr. Donald Pirodsky continued his service between 1976 to 1987 as Director of Consultation and Liaison Service, as well as staff psychiatrist of the VA Medical Center in Syracuse.

Finding his calling, Dr. Donald Pirodsky spent the next 30 years in the continuing study and practice of psychiatry in upstate New York. Dr. Pirodsky channeled all of his energies into his career before deciding to share his wealth of knowledge and experience with other aspiring psychiatrists. He then began his journey into the field of teaching as a professor at the State University of New York (SUNY) in the Syracuse Department of Psychiatry.

With a focus on the field of psychiatry, Dr. Donald Pirodsky developed an interest in clinical psychopharmacology and published numerous articles in major medical journals and texts. Dr. Pirodsky's scholarly book on psychopharmacology was published in 1981 with a second printing in 1992. He continued to reach out to students by giving lectures in psychopharmacology at various educational institutions across the country. At present, he resides in Sarasota, Florida.
