Dominique Ryon has worked in Southwestern Louisiana for more than 10 years in her role as a linguistic anthropologist. A member of Conseil International d'Etudes Francophones (CIEF) and a professional in the field for more than two decades, Dominique Ryon has taught Chinese and French language courses for both children and adults while concurrently serving as a researcher and lecturer on Cajun language and culture. She is a contributor and editor to a wide range of publications, including Littératures de Chine and the Dictionary of Louisiana French, a collaborative effort published in 2010 by the University Press of Mississippi. Working with colleagues under a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, Dominique Ryon’s in-depth knowledge and research served as an important foundation for the dictionary’s thorough examination of the Cajun dialect.
