David W. Stewart earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and a Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.

At present, David W. Stewart is President's Professor of Marketing and Law at Loyola Marymount University. He previously served as Dean of the School of Business Administration and the A. Gary Anderson Graduate School of Management at the University of California, Riverside (UC Riverside). During his tenure as dean he also served as Chair of the City of Riverside Strategic Visioning Steering Committee (Seizing Our Destiny).

Prior to joining the faculty at UC Riverside, David W. Stewart held similar roles at the University of Southern California (USC). Dr. Stewart joined USC in 1986 and fulfilled a variety of positions with the institution in over two decades of employment including Department Chair and Deputy Dean.
