About Fairhaven Baptist Church
Supported by a Christian-based value system rooted firmly in the Baptist tradition, Pastor Roger Voegtlin opened the doors of the Chesterton, Indiana-based Fairhaven Baptist Church on October 27, 1970. With 14 members in attendance, Pastor Voegtlin began preaching his messages of faith and salvation. Drawing upon the teachings of Jesus Christ and Scriptural truths found in both the Old and New Testaments, Fairhaven Baptist Church steadily acquired additional members and gained recognition as one of the fastest-growing ministries in the United States.
During this time, Pastor Roger Voegtlin also expanded the church’s services and facilities and began Fairhaven Baptist Academy in 1972 and Camp Fairhaven in 1973. With a focus on scholastic excellence, structure, and discipline, the Academy supplies its diverse student body with large classrooms and modern equipment. Students attending preschool through grade 12 receive an education from dedicated teachers who hold various ministerial positions within the church. Embodying similar values, Camp Fairhaven also emphasizes Biblical teachings and stresses discipline through a variety of recreational activities. During the summer months, campers are invited to participle in activities such as team sports, canoeing, fishing, craft building, and field trips. Recognizing the need to offer a higher education program that catered to students desiring to pursue fulltime careers in Christian ministry, Pastor Roger Voegtlin also launched Fairhaven Baptist College in 1977.
As a testament to Fairhaven Baptist Church's growing popularity, it recently added an additional classroom wing in the Academy and expanded the auditorium to a 2,000 person capacity. With a Chesterton, Indiana, property valued at over $5.5 million, Fairhaven Baptist Church was noted as one of America's fastest-growing young churches and currently welcomes over 5,600 members to its services.
