Urban Junction is a community center situated in Blackrock. So far during my time working here I have been in charge of the IT section of Urban Junction as well as being delegated the job to run computer classes for Adults of the Blackrock community. Jobs have included the ordering and setting up of 16 computers which are used for the office and the computer room and also the teaching of basic computer and Internet skills to the older people of the community. Skills I have needed for the job has been computer set-up and maintenance, computer networking, people skills, teaching skills and flexibility in hours worked. I have also been in charge of the Urban Junction Website ( Urban Junction runs a lot of community events, and as part of my job I have been in charge of advertising for these events. This involves skills in graphic and web design for flyer/poster advertising and Website advertising.

Stillorgan Park Hotel - Casual Banquet Waiter

My time at the Stillorgan Park Hotel consisted of many different tasks. My job title though was a ‘Casual Banquet Waiter’. My duties as a waiter there consisted of taking meal orders, serving food, and general cleaning up duties. The job often required me to undertake other duties in the hotel such as Porter, Bar work or Restaurant Work.

Bank Of Ireland - SDMT Operator

My job title in the Bank of Ireland was an SDMT Operator (Same Day Money Transfer). My role in this job was to ensure that the process of domestic same day payments for Bank of Ireland customers was completed on a daily basis. This involved the printing off of the payments, inputting the payments on the SDMT BOI system and ensuring the payments were authorized within the designated cut-off time. During a day it would be my responsibility to ensure all payments were printed, input and authorized on the system before the cut-off time, the volume of payments would reach well over 250 each day, increasing to 450 during busy periods.
The skills I had to use during work included extensive data inputting, word processing, spreadsheet management, typing at high speeds for lengthy periods, telephone skills and general office skills including scanning, faxing, photocopying, etc.

I worked in the Bungalow newsagents part-time for close to 3 years. My job there was to make sure all Flowers, Fruit/Veg, and General Groceries were stocked up. This included such jobs as stocktaking, ordering items over the phone and customer interaction.
